Yellow Bistro & Food Store

We've rolled out of bed this morning after a severe meat haze from Japanese BBQ last night with a strong craving for....grease. Perfect hangover cure.

Bustling up the hill to Potts Point, Yellow Bistro & Food Store sets the meat/grease balance back to bearable with croque madames - toasted sourdough, buttered well on both sides, thinly sliced ham, cheese, a gooey egg and a splodge of chilli jam on the side.

Other worthy selections include tender scrambled eggs, with smoked salmon and balsamic tomatoes. We've pondered before exactly how they get the tomatoes so balsamic-y and whether indeed they've been injected with extra vinegar with a tomato hypodermic.

Figs, ricotta and honeycomb are the virtuous choice. Enjoyable by all accounts but the residual chew on the honeycomb's wax can be a little disconcerting.

Virtue nullified of course by having cake for breakfast in the form of the strawberry/meringue/mascarpone delight immediately afterward:

Yellow is quite expensive for what you get, and the 20% weekend surcharge is an abomination but for lip-smacking grub, in nice surrounds, with the pretty people of Potts Point, it's solid.
